Problem
Five pet-care services — vet appointments, lab tests, transport, medicines and products — needed to live in one product, used by two customers with very different rhythms.
Solution
I designed the owner-side app end to end, and we split the product by platform rather than forcing one app to serve both kinds of user.
What I worked on
01
One product, two kinds of owner
The split
A domestic owner uses this in short, frequent bursts — booking a vet visit, reordering food, checking what’s due. That’s a phone in a pocket, and it wants notifications and speed.
A commercial operator works differently. Longer sessions, higher volumes, usually at a desk, and onboarding that can’t depend on getting everyone to install an app.
We split by platform instead of compromising for both: a native app for owners, a PWA for commercial. The decision was made with the tech team; the reasoning above is what I brought to it.
